Pinckney is the 432nd NWL alum to debut in Major League Baseball
Rochester, Minn. – The Northwoods League is proud to announce that former St. Cloud Rox outfielder Andrew Pinckney has made his Major League Baseball debut with the Washington Nationals. Pinckney reached the majors on August 5, 2026.
The Tuscaloosa, Alabama native and University of Alabama product was selected by Washington in the fourth round (102nd overall) of the 2023 MLB Draft.
In the Northwoods League with the Rox, Pinckney appeared in 51 games during the 2021 season and batted .292 with a .370 on-base percentage and .429 slugging percentage. He recorded 13 doubles, four triples, three home runs, 37 RBI, and 15 stolen bases. His strong summer performance as an All-Star selection contributed to his development ahead of a successful college career at the University of Alabama.
Prior to his call-up, Pinckney performed well at Triple-A Rochester in 2026, hitting .271 with 13 home runs, 51 RBI, and 18 stolen bases over 94 games. He was promoted after Nationals outfielder James Wood was placed on the injured list. He entered the game as a pinch-runner in his first major-league appearance.
