Loggers Land a Pair of Volunteers
Fab Freshman Gant and Gruber Commit(LA CROSSE, WI) The La Crosse Loggers continue to build for the upcoming 2009 season as team officials announced the signings of a pair of pitchers from the University of Tennessee. Right-hander Clayton Gant and southpaw Stephen Gruver will dawn the Logger green after their spring season in the SEC is complete.
Clayton Gant [left] enjoyed one of the most successful high school careers in the history of Tennessee high school baseball as he posted a 53-3 career mark. The 5-11, 170 pound right-hander figures to be a big part of the Volunteer pitching staff this spring as does lefty Stephen Gruver.
Gruver [right] was named a 2008 Rawlings and Perfect Game All-American and became the school record holder for strikeouts in a career at Austintown Fitch High School in Canfield, Ohio.
Both Gant and Gruver were a part of the Vols 2008 recruiting class that was ranked 28th nationally by Collegiate Baseball.
