The Mankato MoonDogs took game one of the doubleheader in Duluth by a score of 4-1 thanks to a big third inning.  The MoonDogs scored four runs in the third due to an unearned run, a two-run double from Danny Miller (Minnesota Mankato) and Miller eventually scored on a wild pitch.  The MoonDogs Logan Odom (USC) threw a complete game five hitter while striking out seven Huskies.  The Huskies Casey Lytle (Kansas) had two hits in the loss. 

The MoonDogs took game two in Duluth by a score of 4-3 due to some late inning scoring.  The first four innings of the game were scoreless due to some great pitching from Huskies starting pitcher Chris Jensen (San Diego) and MoonDogs Alex Blackford (Arizona State).  Blackford registered the win throwing 6.0 innings of four-hit baseball while Jensen took the loss. 

Willmar 7, Alexandria 2

The Willmar Stingers jumped out to an early 6-1 lead and beat the Alexandria Beetles 7-2 in front of 1,281 fans.  The Stingers pitching duo of David Carroll (Western Nevada) and Sean Dwyer (Florida Gulf Coast) combined to throw a four hitter over 7.0 innings.  The Stingers Joe Sever (Pepperdine) was a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and two runs scored in the Willmar win.  The Beetles designated hitter Taylor Davis (Morehead State) had two hits in the loss. 

The Stingers finished the sweep by beating the Beetles 5-0 due to some great pitching.  Stingers starting pitcher Cedric Pomerlee (Alcorn State) threw 6.1 innings of one hit baseball while striking out four.  Willmar’s Mitch Delfino (California) had two hits and scored a run in the win.  Mikel Alvarez (Florida Gulf Coast) registered the only hit for the Beetles. 

Thunder Bay 4, St. Cloud 3
St. Cloud 3, Thunder Bay 2
The Thunder Bay Border Cats beat the St. Cloud River Bats 4-3 at Joe Faber Field Wednesday night.  The game featured great pitching from both team’s pitching staff while Michael Woytek (Wright State) throwing a complete game six hitter to earn the win.  Austen Wisroth (Wayne State, NE) took the loss throwing 5.2 innings of four-hit ball.  The Border Cats scored three in the fifth when Jeff Deblieux (South Alabama) knocked in two runs with his first triple of the season.  All-Star short-stop Steve Nyisztor (Rutgers) had two hits and two RBI in the loss. 

In game two the River Bats bounced back with a 3-2 win thanks to a three run sixth inning.  Joey Benke (St. Cloud State) hit a two run double and later scored to come from behind in the sixth.  The River Bats used a great start from Nick Sutherland (Youngstown State) who threw 6.0 innings to earn the win.  Matt Chaffee (Arizona) registered the save throwing the final inning. 

Eau Claire 14, Waterloo 6
The Eau Claire Express used back-to-back five run innings to beat the Waterloo Bucks 14-6 at Carson Park in Wisconsin.  Every player for the Express registered a hit and five of those batters had multiple hit nights.  Lucas Herbst (Santa Clara) led the way for the Express with four hits, three runs scored and four RBI.  Ty Forney also had a four hit performance from the nine-hole with two RBI and two runs scored.  The Bucks swung the bat well in the loss with 12 hits as a team, but committed three errors in the field. 

La Crosse 5, Wisconsin 4
The La Crosse Loggers pinch hit in the bottom of the eighth inning with All-Star Tony Mueller (Winona State) and he produced.  Down 4-3 to the Wisconsin Woodchucks, Mueller pinch hit and singled to right field.  He eventually scored on a Cole Frenzel (Arizona) walk to tie the game at 4-4.  Catcher Chris O’Dowd (Dartmouth) scored on another walk from Bennet Pickar (Oral Roberts) to take the lead 5-4.  The Loggers were out-hit 7-5, but three Woodchuck errors and six walks cost them the game.   

Green Bay 6, Madison 4
The Bullfrogs jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but the Mallards bounced back with four runs to take the lead at 4-3 until the seventh.  In the seventh, Jeff Miera scored on a Mallard error to tie the game up at 4-4.  The Bullfrogs eventually scored two in the eighth to take the game 6-4 in front of 1,641 fans.   Green Bay All-Star short-stop Brad Zapenas (Boston College) was 1-for-2 with two RBI.  The Mallards Rafael Lopez (Florida State) had three hits in the loss. 

Rochester 9, Brainerd 2
Aaron Siefken (Iowa Central CC) led the Rochester Honkers to a 9-2 victory over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Wednesday night in Rochester.  Siefken pitched 6.2 innings, holding the Lunkers to just one run on three hits while fanning four. Siefken improves to 1-0 on the season, picking up the win in his first start for Rochester.  Josef Terry (Cerritos College) cashed in a solid performance at the plate, finishing 4-for-5 with two RBI. Matt Dittman (Illinois) also finished the night 4-for-5 while scoring two runs.  Ryan Hambright (Oregon) and Chris Elder (Oral Roberts) both finished with multi-hit nights and two RBI each in the win. 

Battle Creek, Wisconsin Rapids
With standing water still on portions of C.O. Brown Stadium at game time, Wednesday’s scheduled game between the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Battle Creek Bombers has been postponed. The game will be played as part of a double-header Thursday with game one of two seven inning contests starting at 5:05 PM.
