ROCHESTER, Minn. (July 30, 2012) – The Thunder Border Cats continued to sneak up on the rest of the North Division as they won their seventh straight game on Monday. They now sit just two games back of the first place Stingers.
The Woodchucks dropped their first home game in 17 games, but were not affected in the standings as the Mallards were also defeated on Monday night.
Mankato 4, Thunder Bay 8 (Game 1, 7 innings)
Jerrick Suiter (TCU) was 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored for the Border Cats. Since joining Thunder Bay, he has eight RBI.
Mankato 4, Thunder Bay 5 (Game 2, 7 innings)
After hitting an RBI triple to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, Brett Kay (Illinois State) came across to score on a passed ball to win the game in walk-off fashion for Thunder Bay. The Border Cats will host the MoonDogs again on Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. ET start.
Rochester 2, Willmar 4
Forresst Allday (Central Arkansas) went 2-for-4 with two RBI. He picked up his eighth double and now has 20 RBI on the season. The Stingers will host the Honkers again on Tuesday with the first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
St. Cloud 11, Alexandria 4
Jamie Simpson (Eastern Michigan) went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored. He now has 10 doubles on the season and 12 RBI. The Beetles and Rox will meet again on Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. start.
Waterloo 10, Duluth 8
Kevin Kaczmarski (Evansville) was 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. He also stole two bases. The Huskies will host the Bucks again on Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. start.
La Crosse 7, Madison 1
The Loggers were led by the Northwoods League Player and Pitcher of the Night. Richard Prigatano (Long Beach State) went 2-for-4 with four RBI and James Guillen (USC) threw seven innings and struck out seven. This series will shift to La Crosse on Tuesday and the first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Battle Creek 10, Wisconsin 4
Daniel Rockett (Texas-San Antonio) picked up his eighth home run and now has 26 stolen bases on the season as he aided the Bombers in giving the Woodchucks their first home loss in 17 games. The Bombers will host the Chinooks on Tuesday for a 7:05 p.m. ET start. The Woodchucks will travel to Green Bay to take on the Bullfrogs at 7:05 p.m.
Wisconsin Rapids 2, Lakeshore 7
For the second night in a row, a Lakeshore pitcher threw a complete game as Jason Hoppe (Mankato State) threw nine innings and struck out seven to earn his third win of the season. The Rafters will travel to Eau Claire for a 6:35 p.m. game against the Express.
Eau Claire 7, Green Bay 8
Ransom LaLonde (St. Edwards) went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored. He recorded his fourth double of the year and now has 24 RBI on the season.
