Former Waterloo Bucks standout James Jones was named the Midwest League’s Offensive Player of the Postseason by MiLB.com. Jones, a 2009 fourth-round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners, hit .356 with the Class A Clinton LumberKings as they advanced to the MWL Championship Series.

The Long Island University product stole nine bases in the MWL playoffs. Jones went 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bags in the second game of the postseason, and he doubled, singled, walked and scored twice in the next game. Jones smacked eight hits — including two home runs — over the course of the five Championship Series games against the Lake County Captains.

Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Jones suited up for Waterloo during the 2008 season where he played in 42 games, hitting .296. A two-way player for the Bucks, Jones also appeared in 23 games on the mound, finishing with a 2.45 ERA, a 5-2 record, and 58 strikeouts in 40.1 innings pitched.
