The Big Sticks came into this series 2.5 games back, and this was a big game for both ball clubs, each trying to get in their separate ways.
From a game that featured a batter’s interference, a triple play, both teams batting around in an inning, two challenges, and 21 walks to 29 runs, this game had it all.
The Stingers started the scoring off with a run in the 2nd inning on an error and got 2 more in the 3rd inning, and the Big Sticks got one run in the bottom of the 3rd from a Ryan Muizelaar (Jamestown) RBI triple.
The Stingers broke the game open with a crooked number seven run 4th inning that broke the game wide open. They added three more runs in the top half of the 6th inning.
The Big Sticks answered back for five runs in the bottom of the 6th inning, sparked by Connor Massimini (East Texas Baptist University) RBI double and a couple bases loaded walks and wild pitches.
The Stingers added four more runs in the top half of the 7th inning, and the Big Sticks responded back with two of their own in the bottom of the 7th inning from a Massimini two-run jack, which is his 3rd of the season and leads the team in that category.
The most bizarre play you will ever see at a baseball game happened in the bottom of the 8th inning, which scored a run while resulting in a triple play. A fly ball deep to center field off the bat of Ryan Muizelaar (Jamestown) that was caught at the wall, and the runner tagged up from 3rd base and scored while all runners thought the ball was dropped and kept running, which resulted in a sac fly, but also a triple play.
They added three more in the bottom of the 9th inning and came up short. Muizelaar was a homerun shy of the cycle, and Massamini had a homerun and a double.
Badlands are set for game two tomorrow night vs the Stingers at 4:35 pm MST.
