Dickinson, ND- Tyler Conklin’s stellar 6 inning, 9 K performance is ruined in the late innings of the game as the Express beat the Sticks 5-4 in extra innings.
The Sticks and Express had a really slow start to the game offensively. Scoring would not start until the bottom of the 4th when Cooper Hill would hit an RBI double. Evan Appelwick would come up big in the 5th with a 2-run double into center. Brant Kragel would then knock Appelwick in with a single into right to give the Sticks a 4-0 lead.
The Express would claw back with a Dylan Knowles RBI single and a unearned run on a Zach Selfon error in the 7th. They would tie it up in the 8th with an Ethan Farris solo homer and another unearned runner walked in. The Express would ultimately score the go ahead run in the top of the 10th with a RBI single from pinch hitter Brigs Richartz. To the credit of the Express relievers, they held the sticks to 1 hit and struckout 8 batters.
The Sticks will be back tomorrow at 6:35 against at the Express where there will be a jersey auction after the game to benefit the Scars Foundation and Type 1 Diabetes Awareness.
