Tonight the Battle Creek Bombers split their double header with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. The Bombers took game one by a score of 4-0. The second game the Rafters won 3-1.

The first game of the night took less than an hour and a half to complete. Corey Chaffins threw the shutout game. The Bombers four runs all came in the third inning.

Noble Enriquez hit to center field to put him on base and then stole second. Navarro Hall was walked and then Eric Schultz bunted. Parker Berberet stepped up to the plate and hit a double which scored Hall.

Dan Dispensa hit a single to score two runs and put the Bombers up 3-0. Andrew Lawrence hit a high fly ball behind third and Dispensa was able to score a run making it 4-0.

The Bombers got four runs on seven hits and one error. The Rafters had three hits during the game. Josh Lyon and Lawrence both went 2-for-3, and Dispensa had 2 RBI.

Kevin Bryant got the loss for the Bombers throwing 6.1 innings, where all three runs were scored on him.

Michael Smith hit a triple which scored a run in the top of the first, putting the Rafters up by one. During the bottom of the inning Sean Deegan hit a deep ball back to the track for a triple. Gregg Garcia hit a sacrifice fly and that scored Deegan tying the game at one all.

Cody Koback hit a one out double and then Brian Embery hit a single with two outs that scored a run.

The Rafters were able to get another run in the top of the seventh sealing the game at 3-1.

The Bombers hit the road for three games against the Wisconsin Woodchucks but will be back home on Monday August 2, for a double header game against the Madison Mallards starting at 6:05 p.m. That night will be Faith Night, and there will be a pre-game concert starting at 5:05 p.m. when the gates open up. Tuesday is Taco Bell Tuesday and Wednesday is an early 11:05 a.m. game, and that is camp day. You can watch the Bombers on the road, just go to our website and hit the webcast button.
