The Northwoods League has announced the dates and games for 2011 Opening Night and the 17th Annual Northwoods League All-Star Game. Opening night 2011 will be on Wednesday, June 1st while the all-star game festivities will be in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on Sunday and Monday July 17-18.

The defending Northwoods League Champion Eau Claire Express are one of three teams that will start the season on the road but play their home opener the following night. Their 2010 NWL Championship opponent, the Rochester Honkers, will do the same. Six of the first seven nights of the season will see at least one home opener around the NWL. The entire 2011 Northwoods League schedule, including game times, will be announced next Monday, November 29th.

The Wisconsin Rapids Rafters held a press conference Monday to announce that the second-year franchise would be the host of the 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game. The two-day event will begin on Sunday, July 17th with a fan fest, home run derby and an exhibition game featuring the Field of Dreams Ghost Players. Monday, July 18th will include an all-star luncheon in addition to the main event, the 17th Annual NWL All-Star Game to be played at 7:05 central time that night.
