The Bombers are returning another starting pitcher to their rotation today, re-signing Joe Battistelli from Eastern Michigan University for the 2011 season.

Joe Battistelli: 6’0-175, R/R, P, Eastern Michigan Univ. (So.), Allen Park, MI.

Battistelli pitched extensively for Battle Creek in 2010, earning a 4-4 record, 4.67 ERA, and striking out 45 through 52 innings. In his sophomore season with the Eagles, he’s 3-1, though he’s pitched mostly out of the bullpen with a handful of starts. Joe was an All-Star for the Bombers a season ago representing Battle Creek in Eau Claire, WI last summer.  Battistelli is heavily involved with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in the EMU community.

“With Joe being our only All-Star last year, there was no question we wanted him to be a part of our squad in 2011.  He is a guy that will give his team a chance to win every time he goes out there.  He should also help our new pitchers settle in right away.” said Brian Colopy, Bombers GM.

The Bombers are set to begin their 5th season on June 1, 2011 in the Prestigious Northwoods League. For tickets, fans can call (269)962-0735 or visit www.BattleCreekBombers.com.
