The Bombers opened their second road trip of 2011 with a staggering 14-4 blowout of the La Crosse Loggers at Copeland Park.

Battle Creek blew the game open early, scoring a run in the first inning when Bobby Buckner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, and bringing around five in the next inning thanks to a Danny Rockett bases-clearing double and a Brett Wiley single. The Bombers scored regularly from then on. The Loggers scored three runs in the second but would go scoreless afterwards, besides getting one across in the seventh.

Players named Dan did great things at the plate: Dan Dispensa singled three times and walked twice, reaching base in every at-bat, while Rockett brought home five RBIs.

Alex Loftin struggled in his first outing of the season for the Bombers, only going one and two-thirds innings and allowing three runs and four hits. John Morrison got the win, and Alex Tukey and Kristian Calibuso finished things off on the mound.

The series wraps up tomorrow night at Copeland Park in La Crosse, 7:05pm Eastern. Fans can listen to the live play-by-play on www.battlecreekbombers.com with the Voice of the Bombers, Greg Talbott, calling the action.
