The La Crosse Loggers put the Bombers away in the first inning Wednesday night, splitting the series 1-1 in a 10-4 affair at Copeland Park.

The first inning lasted 45 minutes, where the teams scored 12 cumulative runs. The Bombers got all four of their runs across in the first, three of which came off an error by the Loggers, where, on an overthrow, Battle Creek’s Bryce Redeker collided with La Crosse’s first baseman with the bases loaded, clearing the bases in the confusion. The Bombers would go scoreless thereafter. But the Loggers did even more damage immediately after, batting through the order plus three more, scoring eight runs.

Chad Jasman started for the Bombers and allowed seven of the inning’s eight runs, and recording just one out, before being replaced. Scott Simmons threw 3.2 solid innings of one-run relief, while Scott Mariner and John Morrison finished the effort.

Battle Creek continues their roadtrip tomorrow, visiting the Eau Claire Express for the first of two games. Fans can hear the live play-by-play live online at www.battlecreekbombers.com, with Voice of the Bombers, Greg Talbott, calling the action.
