The Bombers opened their six-game homestand with an electrifying 5-4 extra-inning victory over the La Crosse Loggers at C.O. Brown Stadium.

Both teams scored runs in the fourth inning: the Loggers got a run across on a sacrifice fly, whilethe Bombers brought home Bryce Redeker, Danny Rockett, and Jimmy Martinez on Brett Wiley’s two-RBI double and an infield grounder by Bobby Buckner. Battle Creek would go scoreless until the tenth. La Crosse, though, just wouldn’t quit, scoring individual runs in the eighth, ninth, and tenth innings, but the Bombers would have the last laugh: down 4-3 in the tenth, Troy White scored on a Martinez RBI single, and with Rockett on third base, Wiley hit a sacrifice fly deep to centerfield, scoring Rockett and securing the 5-4 comeback win.

Alex Loftin, after struggling in his first start last week, showed vast improvement, throwing into the seventh inning and allowing just one run, walking two, and striking out three.  Alex Tookey tossed into the eighth, and Kristian Calibuso got the win in the tenth.

The series continues tomorrow night against the Loggers in Battle Creek with the season series in Battle Creek’s favor, 2-1. Fans can watch the game live online at www.battlecreekbombers.com and www.nwltickets.com
