The Bombers went into extra innings again on Wednesday, but this time pulled out a clutch win over the division-leading Eau Claire Express, 5-4.

The Express jumped on the Bombers early, scoring Ryan Shober from third base on a sacrifice fly in the first inning. Neither team scored again until the sixth, when Joe Battistelli gave up two more runs, giving Eau Claire a 3-0 advantage, but the Bombers surged back in the bottom half when Brett Wiley and Mitt Hitt scored via a Danny Rockett groundout and an error committed by Eau Claire centerfielder DeMarcus Tidwell. Battle Creek tied it in the eighth when Bryce Redeker slammed a single into the outfield scoring Troy White, and both teams scored runs in the eighth, tying the game at four apiece.

In the 11th inning, Jimmy Martinez and Troy White reached base right away, and Redeker came through again, this time belting a fly ball into left field that bounced off the wall, easily bringing Martinez home for the win.

Battistelli threw his second excellent start in a row, issuing only three runs through six innings, while Nolan Sanburn threw in his Bombers debut and allowed just a run in three innings. It was closer Kristian Calibuso, however, that got credit for the win in extra innings.

The series continues on Thursday at C.O. Brown stadium at 7:05 in game two. Fans can watch the game live online at www.nwltickets.com with Voice of the Bombers, Greg Talbott, calling the action.
