The Bombers won the series against the visiting Eau Claire Express on Thursday night with a 4-1 victory, heading the Express their fourth straight loss and knocking off their perch from the top of the southern division. They entered the game ranked #19 on Perfect Game Crosschecker’s Top 25 list but are now certainly out of contention for next week’s edition.

Battle Creek again struck early, bringing a pair across in the first inning on a Troy White single and a Bryce Redeker groundout. They struck again in the second when Rhett Goodmiller sent a single into right field, bringing Dan Dispensa home from third base. Eau Claire scored their only run in the fifth when Josh Sheffer, who went 2-3 against Battle Creek, stroked a single into the outfield. The Bombers would score once more in the seventh when Bryce Redeker picked up his third RBI in the last two games.

Matt Dearden had his second excellent start in a row, this time tossing one-run baseball through five innings and notching his fourth win. Alex Tukey was a revelation in relief, setting down eight straight and then walking one before being replaced by Ryan Halstead, who went on to record his second save.

The series concludes Friday night at C.O. Brown Stadium with a 7:05 start. Fans can watch the game live online at www.nwltickets.com with Voice of the Bombers, Greg Talbott, calling the action.
