The Bombers visited the Madison Mallards on Sunday evening for a one-night stint, and left  with a 4-1 loss.

The Mallards strung together runs in the second, third, fifth, and seventh innings, while the Bombers got their lone run across in the sixth off a Danny Rockett RBI double that brought Rhett Goodmiller around from second base.

Michael Caley made his second appearance as Battle Creek’s starter since joining the team days ago, this time giving up four runs through six and one-thirds innings. Kevin Schultz threw the seventh and eighth in scoreless relief, again proving to be a savior to the Bombers’ ailing bullpen.

The season series will wrap up next Saturday and Sunday when Battle Creek hosts Madison at C.O Brown Stadium to end the regular season. The Bombers now drive to Wasau to face the Woodchucks in the road season finale.
