The Bombers completed their sweep of Green Bay and won their fifth straight game on Friday night in a 12-2 demolition of the Bullfrogs.

Battle Creek blew the game open early on: their first seven batters all reached base in the first inning, and six scored, with only Dan Dispensa stranded. The Bomb Squad piled on later in the game, scoring one in the second, one in the fourth, two in the sixth, and another pair in the eight. Danny Rockett annihilated Green Bay’s pitching staff, going 4-5 with two homeruns and four RBIs, and is a viable candidate for Northwoods League player of the night. Bryce Redeker also had four RBIs, two of which came when he hit an inside-the-park homerun which was later ruled an error on the centerfielder.

Michael Caley was excellent in his third start, going six innings and surrendering just two runs while striking out five, and Brian Kirschbaum  threw two scoreless while Alex Tukey finished the effort in the ninth. The Bombers pitching staff gave up just five hits in the ballgame.

Battle Creek now moves into sole possession of the Southern Division’s top overall slot. Green Bay and La Crosse will duke it out over the next two nights for the second playoff spot.

The Bombers play their final series of the regular season beginning Saturday night at 7:05 against the Madison Mallards.
