The Battle Creek Bombers accolades are beginning to roll in with the announcement that Perfect Game, one of the nation’s top baseball scouting service, ranked the Battle Creek Bombers as the 9th best team in the nation this past week. The Bombers rode an impressive 11 game winning streak through the post season to claim the teams 1st Northwoods League World Series Championship.
“Our players, coaching staff, and front office should be very proud of what they accomplished this year.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy. “I’m not sure there is a team in the country that could have beaten us during the final 11 game stretch this past year.”
The Bombers completed their “Worst to First” campaign this past Friday when they swept the Mankato Moondogs at home with a 13-0 victory at C.O. Brown Stadium. “One of our top goals this season was to change the culture and atmosphere around here. Hopefully our 2011 season was a step in the right direction to take this organization to where we eventually want to be.” said Bombers GM Brian Colopy.
Other Northwoods League teams to finish in the top 50 were the Alexandria Beetles (12th), Mankato Moondogs (23rd), Green Bay Bullfrogs (38th), and La Crosse Loggers (44th).
