Battle Creek, Mich. – With less than two weeks to go before the Bombers home opener on May 29th, the team has released their 2014 roster. The franchise will look to return to their 2011 championship form after last season’s disappointing finish.

General Manager Tony Iovieno added, “Both Head Coach Dan Trivett and I feel this may be the most talented roster Battle Creek has seen in a very long time. All the tools are there for this squad to go out and be competitive, night after night. Fans will really enjoy watching our guys play this summer”.

Opening Day is scheduled for 7:05 PM on May 29th, against the new rival Kalamazoo Growlers. Tickets for the home opener are now on sale, and may be purchased by calling (269)-962-0735, by emailing info@battlecreekbombers.com, or by stopping by the front office at 189 Bridge Street in Battle Creek.

For the 2014 Coach Staff, assisting the Bombers Head Coach Dan Trivett this season will be Robbie Robinson and Bill Murphy. Coach Robinson enters his second year with the Bombers and currently serves as assistant coach with Pfeiffer University in Misenhheimer, North Carolina. Coach Robinson also spent time as a graduate assistant at Missouri State University. During that time he also served as the bullpen catcher for the Double A Springfield Cardinals. He began his collegiate career at Irvine Valley College and finished at Valparaiso University. As a collegiate player at Valparaiso University he was selected to the Horizon League All-Newcomer Team, 2010 Conference All-Tournament Team and Second Team All-League in 2011. Coach Robinson graduated from Valparaiso in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and is currently working towards his master’s degree in sports management at Michigan State University.

Coach Murphy comes to Battle Creek from Georgetown University where he served as assistant coach. In 2013, Coach Murphy served as the hitting and strength coach for the Rockville Express of the Cal Ripken Collegiate League. He also served as assist coach during the CRCL All-Star Game. Before his stop in Rockville, Coach Murphy assisted with the Middlesex Rays of the Atlantic Baseball Confederation Collegiate League. As a collegiate player, Coach Murphy pitched 3 years for Rutgers University under the leadership of legendary coach Fred Hill, before graduating in 2010. He spent his last year of eligibility playing first base for Wagner College, where he earned his MBA in 2013. This will be his first year with the Battle Creek Bombers.
