It was a long day at C.O. Brown Stadium but a fun one as the Bombers sweep the Rochester Honkers with a 5-1 victory.

There were two separate rain delays in the game, one previous to first pitch and one after the sixth inning.

The Bombers received a great spot start from Dakota Mekkes (Michigan State), replacing Alex Hermeling (Louisiana-Monroe), who got the day off.

Mekkes went 5 innings, giving up one unearned run while walking one and finishing with nine strikeouts.

The bats played a huge role for the Bombers, as Brandon Van Horn (Dallas-Baptist) had a big day. Van Horn got on base four times with a double, a run scored and two RBIs.

Justin Stawychny (Louisiana-Monroe) had a solid day at the plate as well, plating a big go-ahead double in the bottom half of the sixth inning.

The Bombers never looked back, even after the second rain delay occurred, holding the Honkers to four hits in the game.

Battle Creek will now head to Wisconsin for a four game road trip. First stop is in La Crosse, Wisconsin tomorrow night. Game time is 8:05 ET.

Game Notes:

The Bombers have gone three games now without giving up an earned run (27 innings). Adding in the Sunday night victory over the Madison Mallards, the Bombers have gone 34 straight innings without an earned run and look to continue that on the road in La Crosse.
