La Crosse, Wisc.- It was a close game up until the eighth inning in La Crosse when the rain struck and it all fell apart for Battle Creek.

The Loggers were up 5-2 going into the bottom of the eighth when a 45 minute rain delay occurred. When the Bombers came back on the field, they gave up nine runs and went on to lose, 14-2.

The scoring happened early as each team plated a run in the first inning. The Bombers added another in the top of the second to go up 2-1, but the Loggers responded with three of their own and never looked back.

One bright spot in the game was Luke Heller (Cornerstone) for the Bombsquad. Heller pitched five innings in relief, giving up one run (unearned). Heller was just signed to a full contract after being released by the Green Bay Bullfrogs and has been very solid in his first two outings with Battle Creek.

"Coming already from the Northwoods I already had a good idea of what I was going to be stepping into," Heller said when talking about his transition to the Bombers mid-season.

The right handed pitcher added "the guys have been great just getting to know me and everthing so it was a pretty easy transition."

Pitching Coach Bill Murphy has also been impressed with Heller. He noted that he is going to continue coming on for Battle Creek in long relief situations, but he also will get opportunities situationally due to his "funky" release point, as Murphy quoted.

The Bombers are now 2-3 on the nine game road trip as they head to Lakeshore tomorrow for a two game series with the Chinooks. First pitch is 7:35 ET.
