They’re Still Kalamazoo. We’re the New Battle Jacks.
Post Cereal Night = $20 Rivalry Package (and Kalamazoo Payback)
Battle Creek, MI the – June 3, 2025 – There’s always something a little different in the air when Kalamazoo comes to town.
The rivalry between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo is about more than baseball. It’s identity. It’s geography. It’s bragging rights for the stretch of highway that connects us the now-iconic I-94 Rivalry Cup, a six-game series that has come to define summer baseball in Southern Michigan.
But this year? This year feels different.
Because for the first time in a long time, Battle Creek isn’t playing second fiddle.
Under previous ownership, both the Growlers and the Battle Jacks were operated by the same group. The rivalry was real, but Battle Creek often felt like the other team.
Now, with new ownership in place, that dynamic has changed dramatically. This isn’t just a new chapter. It’s a new book. And Friday night, when the Growlers roll into MCCU Field, the message will be clear: We’re not just participating in this rivalry anymore. We’re coming for the Cup.
“We Love This City, And We’re Here to Win for It.”
New owner Scott Miles didn’t hesitate when asked about the importance of this Friday’s game.
“This rivalry means everything,” Miles said. “We love Battle Creek. We’re proud to represent this city, and we’re proud to go out there and beat Kalamazoo. Period. There’s a chip on our shoulder, and we’re playing with pride. It’s our town, our team, and we’re not just here to compete, we’re here to kickbutt .”
The team has already gotten off to a fast start this season, fueled by a surge of energy from players, fans, and a front office determined to restore MCCU Field as one of the best places to be on a Michigan summer night.
“This game has been circled on our calendar since Day One,” Miles added. “We play Kalamazoo six times this year, and every single one matters. We’re coming for the I-94 Cup, and we’re building something that lasts.”
More Than a Game. It’s a City Celebration.
This Friday’s game isn’t just a clash of rivals, it’s also Post Cereal Night, a hometown celebration of Battle Creek’s iconic brand and quirky baseball fun.
Fans who purchase the special $20 ticket package will receive:
* General Admission ticket
* Meal voucher (hot dog, burger, or brat + chips + drink)
* A Post Poutine Bowl, vanilla ice cream topped with Fruity Pebbles and chocolate syrup, served in a commemorative bowl
“It’s a celebration of who we are,” said General Manager Brody Conaty. “Battle Creek is the Cereal City. And now, we’re putting a new spin on that with the energy of a team that’s finally playing for itself.”
History Meets Future
The Battle Creek/Kalamazoo rivalry has always had roots. But under new ownership, it’s being given room to grow; on the field, in the community, and in the culture of the team.
This is about more than one game. It’s about setting the tone for the next decade.
Friday night is an opportunity; for fans, for the city, for the team, to send a message:
This is Battle Creek’s team now. This is a new era. And this rivalry? It’s just heating up.
