A lifelong baseball enthusiast and accomplished entrepreneur, Miles brings over two decades of leadership across technology and sports, including a strong track record of revitalizing community sports programs and driving long-term growth through strategic vision and hands-on management.

Miles purchased the team, which plays in the Northwoods League, from Brian Colopy, who also owns and operates the rival Kalamazoo Growlers. Its 32nd season opens on May 26th, Memorial Day.

“I’m thrilled to join the Battle Jacks, the City of Battle Creek, and the Northwoods League,” said Miles. “Baseball has been a lifelong passion of mine, and I see this as more than a team—it’s an opportunity to continue to build something special with the community. We’re ready to deliver a summer filled with energy, connection, and unforgettable moments at the ballpark.

“I’m incredibly grateful to Brian, the league, and city leaders for their support during this transition,” Miles added. “The foundation here is strong—thanks to the dedicated front office, coaches, players, host families, fans, and sponsors. My goal is to honor that legacy while bringing new energy, ideas, and experiences to keep the Battle Jacks growing season after season.”

Colopy thanked everyone who supported him and the organization during his tenure: “From joining the team in 2010 to becoming the sole owner in 2021, my time with the Battle Creek Battle Jacks has been an unforgettable journey. Thank you to the fans, the staff, the sponsors and the community for your unwavering support. I’m excited to see the team’s continued success with its new owner Scott, and I’ll always be a Battle Creek supporter.”

Colopy is known for his viral ideas, including Coach Drake, pre-game home run derbies, the Twinkie Dog, and more. His accolades include NWL Organization of the Year in 2016, 2020, 2022 and 2024, Executive of the Year in 2020 and 2022, and winner of the NWL Championship in 2011, 2022 and 2024.

Ryan Voz, President/Commissioner of the Northwoods League, offered a warm welcomed to Miles: “We look forward to the continued growth of the affiliate under Scott’s leadership.
