Wausau, Wisc. – The Bombers were able to take it to the Woodchucks yesterday, but could not repeat the performance tonight.
The Woodchucks (11-7) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, going on to win the game 9-1. Battle Creek falls to 7-10 for the second half.
"We faced a quality pitcher who was hitting his spots really well," Coach Robinson said. "And they got four early runs and we couldn't get back. So we just need to flush this game and get back to C.O. Brown tomorrow."
Though some Bombers struggled today, both on the mound and hitting, Henri Lartigue (Ole Miss) was not one of them. Lartigue has had four straight multi-hit games for Battle Creek.
"I feel pretty confident right now as I adjusted my hands, just trying to find some barrels," Lartigue stated.
The Ole Miss catcher is a switch-hitter and has been locked in.
"I feel pretty good both ways right now, I am just trying to stay quiet and it is really working for me," he added.
The Bombers head back home tomorrow to take on the crosstown rival Kalamazoo Growlers. First pitch will be at 7:05 ET, and Lartigue believes Battle Creek is ready to play.
"I think we just have to come right out and throw the first punch. We have to let them know we are playing good baseball and they are in for some trouble."
