Wisconsin Rapids, Wisc. – Battle Creek jumped out to an early 6-0 lead in the first and never looked back, going on to win the game 11-6.

The offense had a total of 16 hits as the bats were sharp for the second straight day.

"It was a good start to get off hot," Coach Robinson said. "It just set the tempo off right to keep our guys in it for the whole game. They crept back a little bit but it was nice to get a lot of hits and keep rolling with it.

The hits came early and often, as every Bomber in the starting lineup had a least one base knock.

The offense was lead by the two Northern Kentucky Norsemen: Cody Kuzniczci and Logan Spurlin. Spurlin just joined the team this week and has been solid at the plate.

"I couldn't do it without guys getting on base," Spurlin said post game. "The guys at the front of the order have done a real good job of getting around and scoring runs so my teammates are putting me in a real good position to succeed."

As the Bomber catcher mentioned, the top of the order has been solid lately with Anthony Cheky (Michigan State) and Spencer Thornton (San Diego State).

The two combined for four hits, three runs, an RBI and two stolen bases.

The pitching was not as stellar as it has been since the All-Star Break, but Hunter Jobe (Pfeiffer) was solid yet again in relief.

The submariner has taken over the late inning/situational role at the back of the pen and has been great for Pitching Coach Bill Murphy.

"I didn't have my best stuff (tonight), but Coach Murph just kept me in it and kept telling me to attack and get ahead of hitters and that helped me a lot."

Jobe got the save in the win, dropping his season ERA down to an impressive 1.77.

Battle Creek has somewhat of an off day tomorrow as the Northwoods League hosts their MLB Showcase day in Madison, Wisconsin.

Jacob Waguespack (Ole Miss) and Andrew Mitchell (LSU) will be headed down with the coaching staff as the othe Bombers get some rest in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Bombsquad will get back at it on Wednesday, August 6th, looking to sweep the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters. First pitch is at 8:05 ET.
