BATTLE CREEK, MI – The Battle Creek Bombers announced today the signing of two pitchers to the 2016 roster. Edgar Sanchez will return from Prairie View A&M and joining him is junior Scott Sency of SVSU. The duo bring the Bombers roster presented by the OnStaff Group Recruiting Trail to nine.
Scott Sency: 6’3”, 195 lb, LHP, Junior, (Bats: L/Throws: L), Medina, Ohio
Sency is from Medina, Ohio, and attended Medina High School. He earned varsity letters and was named Medina County MVP. He was also first team All-District, first team All-Region and first team All-Northern Ohio Conference. In one game as a senior, he recorded 16 strikeouts while hitting a home run and double at the plate, and tallied five RBI.
In 2015, he started nine games for Saginaw Valley State University, and earned five wins while striking out 35 batters in 50.1 innings and had a 2.32 ERA. He was selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team.
Edgar Sanchez: 5’7”, 170 lb, INF/RHP, Junior, (Bats: R/Throws: R), Everman, Texas
Sanchez is from Everman, Texas, and went to Everman High School. Sanchez is currently with Prairie View A&M, and he is 2-1 with 25 strikeouts and eight walks in 27.2 innings pitched. Before joining the Panthers, he attended Cedar Valley College, where he recorded 31 strikeouts in 48 innings, and also had two complete games.
In 2015 with Battle Creek, he went 4-1 with a 3.72 ERA. In 16 appearances with the Bombers, he allowed 50 hits and tallied 28 strikeouts in 60.1 innings pitched. He also scored two runs in six plate appearances.
