BATTLE CREEK, MI – The OnStaff Group Recruiting Trail is exciting to present that Battle Creek has signed two more players to join the 2016 roster, Justice Sampson and Zachary Marszal of North Carolina Central University have signed to play for the red and black this summer in the team’s 10th season.
Zachary Marszal: 6’0’’, 211 lbs, OF, junior, (Bats: R/Throws: R), Cary, Illinois
Marszal transferred to North Carolina Central from McHenry County College after his sophomore season and has quickly found his role on the Eagles this season, hitting .296/.379/.469 while starting all 22 games for NCCU. In 81 at-bats, Marszal has 24 hits, six doubles, one triple, two home runs and 19 RBIs.
With McHenry last season, Marszal was named Region 4 Player of the Year and a JUCO All-American. He also earned Region 4 All-Region Honors in the 2014 and 2015 after hitting above .400 in both seasons.
A native of Cary, Illinois, Marszal is majoring in mathematics at North Carolina Central.
Justice Sampson: 6’0’’, 175 lbs, LHP, sophomore, (Bats: L/Throws: L), Lumberton, North Carolina
Sampson made three appearances out of the bullpen in his freshman season, pitching four innings with four strikeouts. This season, he’s taken a larger role out of the bullpen for the Eagles, making 14 appearances in the relief for North Carolina Central. In 16.1 innings pitched this year, Sampson has a 3-0 record with a 3.31 ERA, struck out 11 batters and recorded three saves. Sampson’s 3.31 ERA leads the Eagles this season, while his three wins are tied for first on the team as well.
Sampson attended Lumberton High School, home of the Lumberton Pirates.
