The Battle Creek Bombers defeated the Green Bay Bullfrogs 8-5 Tuesday afternoon at C.O. Brown Stadium thanks to smart situational hitting.

Alejandro Gomez worked a one-out walk in the second inning and advanced to second on a Jarrod Watkins walk. Gomez came around to score after a Randell Kanemaru error on a ball hit by Ryan Dorow.

Eric Gilgenbach led off the sixth inning for the Bombers by getting hit by a pitch. He advanced to second on a Nick Podkul single. After Jarrod Watkins flew out to left field, Ryan Dorow hit a triple to deep left field that scored both Gilgenbach and Podkul.

With the Bombers up 4-2 in the seventh inning, Battle Creek added another run after Nick Podkul was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, scoring Daniel Jipping.

The Bombers started to break away in the eighth inning. With one out, Dan Swain got on with a single and Daniel Jipping worked a one-out walk, advancing Swain to second. Swain came around to score after an error by Green Bay first baseman Zachary Biermann. Jipping scored on a one-out single by Christian Helsel, and Nick Walker scored Battle Creek’s eighth and final run on a fielder’s choice by Truman Brown.
