The Bombers dropped the second game of their doubleheader Saturday night to the Green Bay Bullfrogs 4-3. Per Northwoods League rules, the game was shortened to seven innings as the Bombers and Bullfrogs resumed their rain-suspended game one earlier on Saturday.

The Bombers took the early lead in game two. Ryan Dorow earned a one-out walk, but was thrown out while trying to steal second base. With two outs in the inning, left fielder Daniel Jipping hit a solo homerun over the left field wall, giving the Bombers the 1-0 lead.

First baseman Nick Podkul led off the second inning with a single. After Cody Sporrer flied out to left field, Eric Gilgenbach singled, which advanced Podkul to third base. Catcher Truman Brown followed Gilgenbach by singling, which scored Podkul, increasing the Bombers lead to 2-0.

The Bombers increased their lead in the fourth inning. Nick Podkul led off with a double. After a fielder’s choice, Podkul advanced to third base, but was thrown out at home after a fielder’s choice by Eric Gilgenbach. Truman Brown doubled, scoring Gilgenbach and giving the Bombers the 3-0 lead.

Chi-Ping Wu took the mound for the Bombers in the second game of the doubleheader. Wu went 4.1 innings in his second start of the year. He allowed two runs on three hits. Wu allowed five walks and struck out four batters.

The Bombers led 3-1 going to the bottom of the fifth inning. After Chris Botsoe grounded out for Green Bay, four straight Bullfrogs reached base. Catcher Truman Brown struggled behind the plate as he allowed three passed balls in the fifth inning, allowing runners to advance on the basepaths.

With the game tied at 3, designated hitter Colton Onstott hit a two-out double for the Bullfrogs, scoring Randell Kanemaru and giving the Bullfrogs the 4-3 lead, which ended up being the final score.

The Bombers will now travel to Lakeshore to take on the Chinooks starting Sunday evening at 6:05/5:05 Central.
