Without Daniel Jipping the Battle Creek Bombers fell to the red-hot Rockford Rivets, 4-3. Jipping, the Bombers' leading hitter, missed Tuesday nights' game due to a one-game suspension after he was ejected in the ninth inning on Monday night against Lakeshore for arguing balls and strikes.

The Bombers did strike first against the Rivets as Jarrod Watkins led off the game for the Bombers with a triple, scoring on Nick Podkul's single to give the Bombers a 1-0 lead.

In the second, the Bombers added another run to their lead as Cooper Marshall doubled down the right field line and scored on Alejandro Gomez's single, but the Rivets would fight back starting the bottom of the second.

Against Scott Sency, Neal Tyrell reached on an error, moving to second on a sacrifice bunt and scoring on Branden William's RBI single in the bottom of the second. And in the bottom of the third, after Hunter Steinmetz was hit by a pitch and David Cronin walked, the Rivets tied the game on a sac-fly and took the lead on an RBI single by Tyrell.

The Rivets would extend their lead in the bottom of the fourth as Josh Hauser singled and scored on Braden Williams' RBI double, giving the Rivets a 4-2 lead.

The Bombers would cut the lead to one in the top of the seventh as Podkul doubled off the left field wall, scoring Watkins, who reached first on a walk. But the Rivets bullpen would shut down the Bombers' hitters the rest of the game, as the Rivets won their seventh straight.

With the loss the Bombers drop to 8-7, while the Rivets move to 9-6 on the year. Scott Sency takes the loss for the Bombers, while Nick Drahozal picks up his second win on the season for Rockford. Zach Olszewski picked up the save, his second of the year, for the Rivets in the ninth.

The Bombers are back in action Wednesday night against the Rivets as they look to split the two-game set at Rivets Stadium before concluding their road trip in Madison against the Mallards on Thursday and Friday.
