The Battle Creek Bombers fell to the Lakeshore Chinooks 6-5 Sunday night at C.O. Brown Stadium, getting swept by the Chinooks. With the loss, the Bombers fell to 17-17 on the year.

The Bombers took an early lead. Shortstop Daniel Patzlaff, designated hitter Christian Helsel and second baseman Jarrod Watkins all hit singles with nobody out in the bottom of the first inning. After Daniel Jipping struck out and Jacob Blunt flew out, center fielder Dean Miller reached on an error by Lakeshore second baseman Royce Ando, allowing Patzlaff and Helsel to score, giving the Bombers the 2-0 lead.

The Bombers tacked on a run in the third inning. Jarrod Watkins led off with a single, but was erased on a double play hit by Daniel Jipping. Catcher Jacob Blunt worked a two-out walk. After Dean Miller singled, third baseman Ryan Dorow hit a single, allowing Blunt to score, giving the Bombers the 3-0 lead.

The Chinooks were able to turn the tables in the middle innings. They scored two runs in the fifth inning from back-to-back homeruns, three runs in the sixth, and one in the seventh, giving them the 6-3 lead.

With the Bombers trailing in the bottom of the ninth, Jarrod Watkins led off the inning by hitting a single. Daniel Jipping followed by hitting a homerun over the left field wall, cutting the Chinooks lead to 6-5. However, the rally fell short as they lost by that final score.

The Bombers now welcome the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters to Battle Creek for a two-game stint starting with an Independence Day matinee, Monday afternoon at 2:05.
