The Battle Creek Bombers topped the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, 10-3 Sunday evening in the final game of the Northwoods League regular season.

Wisconsin Rapids would take the early lead against Dylan Givens and the Bombers as they loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the first inning. An RBI groundout by Joe Wainhouse gave the Rafters a 1-0 lead before they'd make it 2-0 on Ben Fisher's sacrifice fly.

But the Bombers would come right back to cut the lead in half in the bottom of the first, before taking the lead for good in the bottom of the second.

With two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the first, Nick Podkul doubled against Rafters' starter Calvin Giese and came around to score on Dean Miller's RBI single to cut the Rafters' lead to 2-1.

And then in the bottom of the second, Eric Gilgenbach's one out single and Cody Young's walk put runners at first and second before Cooper Marshall's RBI single tied the game up at two. Cody Sporrer's single would load the bases before Christian Helsel's sacrifice fly would give the Bombers' the lead.

The Bombers would add to their lead scoring one run in the bottom of the fourth as Storm Joop led off the inning with a walk, moving to second on Young's single and third on Marshall's walk. Joop would score on Giese's wild pitch as the Bombers would extend their lead to 4-2.

But the Bombers wouldn't stop there as they'd add three more against Giese and Reggie Johnson in the fifth. Podkul led off the inning with a single, advancing to second on Nick Poirier's groundout. Daniel Jipping's triple would score Podkul from second to give the Bombers' a 5-2 lead, before a wild pitch would allow Jipping to score to make it 6-2.

And with the bases loaded after two walks and a hit by pitch later in the bottom of the fifth, Sporrer's RBI single would make it a 7-2 game.

That would be all Dylan Givens and David Inman, who relieved Givens in the fifth, would need, as the two would combine to allow just one run over the second through eighth innings.

In his third start of the year for the Bombers, Givens would allow two runs on four hits and four walks over 4.0 innings pitched. Inman would allow just one run on two hits over 4.0 innings pitched as he'd pick up the win, his third of the year.

Battle Creek would tack on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth as Podkul led off another inning with a hit, this time a double, and came around to score on Jipping's sac fly. And with a runner on first, Joop's little league home run would make it a 10-3 Bombers' lead.

Colton Bradley come into pitch a scoreless ninth as the Bombers picked up their 39th win of the season, moving to 39-32 on the year. With the loss, the Rafters fall to 49-23 on the year.

With the regular season complete the Bombers will travel to Madison, Wis. on Monday to take on the Mallards for a single-elimination playoff game starting at 7:05 CST/8:05 EST at Warner Park.
