Battle Creek, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers went off for 14 runs on 14 hits to defeat the Lakeshore Chinooks 14-6 as they begin their five-game home stand.
The Bombers (12-5) got huge innings in the fifth and eight, as they scored 12 runs combined in those two innings.
Four different Bombers had multi-hit games, including Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech) who went 2-4 with two runs batted in. Stoffel sit a top the Northwoods league in hits with 26 on the season.
His fellow Va. Tech teammate JD Mundy also continued his hot streak, as he went 3-4 with a double and three RBIs.
Storm Joop (University of Indianapolis) played for the first time in three games, racking up three hits as he drove in two runs. Cale Hennemann (University of Memphis) recorded his third multi-hit game, going 2-5 with two RBIs. Nick Walker (Austin Peay State University) moved his hitting streak to four games, as he also drove in his 10th run of the year.
Takoda Metoxen (University of Memphis) would pick up his first win of the season out of the bullpen, lasting 2.1 innings and giving up only one run on two hits.
Andrew Click (Davenport University) got the start for Battle Creek, tossing 4.2 innings as he gave up five runs on nine hits in a no-decision effort.
Battle Creek improved their record to 6-2 at C.O. Brown Stadium. A win tomorrow against Lakeshore would give them their fifth series sweep of the season.
