Battle Creek, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers offense erupted for 12 runs on 17 hits in game two against the Kenosha Kingfish, as they would sweep the Kingfish with a 12-3 victory Thursday night.
The Bombers (22-15) swept Kenosha for the first time this season, as they would end their season series with the Kingfish 4-4.
Battle Creek went to work offensively, with eight different Bombers recording hits. Five different players recorded multi-hit games, with four recording multiple RBIs.
All three of the Arkansas State players (Alex Howard, Justin Felix, Winston Welch) recorded two RBIs. Felix would go 3-5, Howard 2-5, and Welch drove in his two runs on sacrifice flies.
Cody Hawken (University of Portland) had his first three-hit game, going 3-4 with two runs batted in. Nick Walker (Austin Peay State University) also recorded a three-hit day, as he extended his hitting streak to 12 games.
The final three-hit game came from Nikola Vasic (McHenry County College), as he recorded two doubles.
Christian Griffin (West Alabama) got the start for BC, lasting 5.0 innings as he only allowed one hit and two runs. Griffin picked up his second win of the season, and its now back-to-back starts he has allowed less than two hits.
The Bombers used TJ Shook (Oakland University) and Alex Smith (University of Memphis) out of the bullpen.
The sweep of Kenosha is the seventh series sweep this season for Battle Creek.
Battle Creek will continue their six-game home stand with the final two games against the Madison Mallards. Game one with Madison is scheduled for tomorrow night with a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch. Left-hander Jared Middleton (University of West Florida) will make his seventh start.
