Battle Creek Mich. – The Battle Creek Bomber continued their success against the Green Bay Bullfrogs with a 12-4 victory in game two Tuesday night.
BC (31-22, 11-7) jumped out of the gates early with a four-run first inning against the Bullfrogs (15-38, 3-15) and never looked back. The Bombers would produce
Tom Stoffel (Virginia Tech) helped the first inning scoring with a three-run home run, his seventh this season. The long ball was a reoccurring theme, with a two-run shot from JD Mundy (Virginia Tech) in the third and a solo home run off the bat of Alex Howard (Arkansas State) in the fifth.
Mundy finished his night going 3-5 with three driven in, his 13th multi-hit game.
Seven different Bombers recorded hits, including Nikola Vasic (McHenry County College) who went 3-3 with three singles.
Nick Walker (Austin Peay State University), Cody Hawken (University of Portland), and Justin Felix (Arkansas State) all recorded hits.
Jake Hawken (University of Portland) gave a solid outing in only his second start of the season, lasting 6.0 innings and allowing just three runs on seven hits.
Alexander Leija (Marygrove College) pitched 2.0 innings out of the pen, with Wyatt Cross (Indiana University) wrapping up the ninth.
Battle Creek finished their season series against Green Bay with a 7-1 mark. The sweep of the Bullfrogs also marked BC’s ninth series sweep this summer.
The Bombers will begin a four-game stand with their arch nemesis the Kalamazoo Growlers beginning tomorrow. BC and KZO will play a double-header tomorrow, beginning in Kalamazoo at 11:05 a.m. ET. Game two will take place at C.O. Brown Stadium with a 7:05 p.m. ET first pitch.
