Battle Creek, Mich. – The Battle Creek Bombers began in a delay with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters but it was the Rapids that were victorious in game one 11-4.

The loss for Battle Creek (37-25, 17-10) keeps them in second-place of the second half standings in the South Division.  The Rapids (45-18, 18-9) put themselves in a tie for first with the Rockford Rivets.

BC went down early out of the gates, allowing four runs through the first two innings.  Max Swan (Kellogg Community College) made his Battle Creek debut but only recorded one out has he gave up three runs.

Dakota Edwards (Cal State Stanislaus) also struggled out of the pen, allowing five runs on eight hits.  He lasted 3.2 innings and struck out three in 23 batters faced.

Offensively the Bombers were only able to gather seven hits, which produced the four runs.

Wyatt Cross (Indiana University) knocked a three-run shot in the fourth, his first home run of the season.  Cross finished his evening 1-4 at the dish.

Outfielder Nick Walker (Austin Peay State University) moved his hit streak to five games, going 2-3.  Nehwon Norkeh (Tennessee Wesleyan University) picked up a hit in his second straight game with a 1-4 performance.

Each Alex Howard (Arkansas State University), Aaron Antonini (Middle Tennessee State University) and Cody Hawken (University of Portland) notched hits, with Howard extending his hitting streak to 10 straight games.  Hawken moved his hit streak to nine straight, while Antonini picked up two doubles.

Out of the bullpen Tim Nelson (UC San Diego) tossed three scoreless innings and allowed just three hits.  Alec Berry (Elmhurst College) threw the eighth, giving up one run on a solo home run.  Closing out the ninth was Ashton Knutson (Ridgewater College) as he struck out two batters.

The Rapids moved their season record to 4-1 over BC, as game number six of the series will take place tomorrow night.  First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. ET at C.O. Brown Stadium.

Tune in to the pregame show on the Bombers Radio Network with Jake Hromada and Neil Doyle at 6:55 p.m. ET.
