The Bombers (6-4, 22-23) lose 4-0 to the Kenosha Kingfish (8-2, 21-23) Friday at C.O. Brown and fail to get above the .500 mark once again.
Battle Creek has now reached the .500 mark four times this season and have yet to get over the hump.
Kenosha scored the only run of the first seven innings Friday night in the top of the second inning. Scott Dubrule doubled to bring Connor Doyle to third and Doyle scored on a throwing error by right fielder Nate Jones.
The run was unearned to Noah Reed, who took the loss for Battle Creek despite giving up just that run in two innings pitched.
Starting pitcher, Denson Hull, earned his third win of the season for Kenosha. Hull pitched seven innings scoreless, allowing just three hits and striking out seven Bombers.
Kevin Hahn did his job out of the bullpen for Battle Creek, pitching three scoreless innings to keep the score at 1-0 through five innings. Hahn earned player of the game for his performance.
Brett Manis allowed just one hit in the sixth and seventh innings, but Kenosha jumped on Manis in the eighth. The Kingfish added three runs on two hits and an error to extend their lead to 4-0.
Battle Creek didn’t have a baserunner for the last four innings Friday as Kevin Napoleon picked up where Hull left off. Napoleon pitched two perfect innings and struck out four Bombers to end the game.
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders come to C.O. Brown Saturday night for the last two games of the season between Fond du Lac and Battle Creek. The Bombers are 2-4 against the Dock Spiders in 2018. First pitch is set for 7:05 EST.
