TRAVERSE CITY, MI., – Battle Creek lost 10-5 tonight and were swept in four games by the Traverse City Pit Spitters. The Bombers had better offense in the game than the last two but could not keep up with the Pit Spitters.

Traverse City got the scoring going early with two runs in the first. An RBI single by Tito Flores scored Zebb Roos and an error on the throw brought in Mario Camilletti. The Pit Spitters added on with three in the second. Four singles and a hit-by-pitch brought in three runs and gave Traverse the 5-0 lead. They tacked on another two runs in the fourth of off Battle Creek starter Zach Williams. In the fourth, it was back-to-back-to-back walks to lead off the inning followed by two RBI ground outs and Traverse City was up 7-0.

The best inning for the Bombers bats was the top of the fifth. Six singles including five of them in a row scored four runs. Isaac Raab, Javier Vaz, and Aaron Beck all had singles and scored a run. Sy Snedeker was the lone walk in the inning and scored as well. Nicholas Powell and Roman Kuntz both had singles in the fifth and ended the game with two hits each. This seemed like a turning point for Battle Creek, but Traverse City kept on the gas pedal.

In the bottom of the sixth, Flores drove home Roos and Camilletti again on a two RBI single. In the seventh, Jake Arnold singled with one out, stole second and third, and then scored on a wild pitch to make it 10-4 Pit Spitters. Joe Pace would come in and have a dominate 1-2-3 inning in the eighth, however he struggled just a bit in the ninth. Two walks and a single to lead off the last inning for Battle Creek loaded the bases with no outs. Beck drove in the last run of the game to make it 10-5 Traverse City with an RBI ground out that scored Snedeker.

Battle Creek has now lost four straight and fall to 3-9 on the second half. They will take the long bus trip from Traverse City to Kenosha on Saturday for double header action starting at 5:30 PM EDT.
