BATTLE CREEK, MI — It’s no surprise: Pat Mills is the first all-star selection in Battle Creek Battle Jacks history. The Northwoods League announced the rosters Friday for the 2022 NWL All-Star Game. and Mills was chosen as an outfielder for the Great Lakes Division.

“I never expected this to ever happen,” he said. “I just want to play baseball every day to the best of my ability.”

The Indiana University Kokomo product leads the league with 15 doubles, four more than any other hitter. He is also among the league leaders in hits and RBI.

Mills leads the Battle Jacks with a .315 batting average through 36 games. He has accumulated 47 hits and 32 RBI, the top dog in one of the league’s best offenses.

“I’ve never seen pitchers this good,” he said. “I knew I’d have to work hard every day to compete at this level.”

He’ll get to go up against the best pitchers in the Great Plains Division in less than two weeks. Mills will feature in the 2022 NWL All-Star Game on Tuesday, July 19 at 8 p.m. ET at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin.

“I’m excited to go compete with some of the best guys in this league for a day and see what I got,” he said.
