TRAVERSE CITY, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks split the series against the Richmond Flying Mummies on Tuesday following a 13-4 dominant victory.
Game one would see a run scored off of Jacob Kucharczyk stealing home to take an early Traverse City lead in the 1st inning. The Battle Jacks would fire back in the 3rd innning with three runs scored on a Jake Stedman walk, a Brendan Thompson single, and an RBI from Thomas cooper to take a 3-1 lead.
Three 2-run innings for Traverse City would put them back in business, and the Battle Jacks would go scoreless the rest of the game. Traverse City took the 7-3 win.
Game two would start well for the Battle Jacks with a Thomas Cooper triple followed up by an error to allow the Jacks to take the early 1-0 lead.
An explosive 5th inning for the Pit Spitters would ensue, nailing 7 runs on the board after a wild pitch from Battle Creek and a series of hot bats for Traverse City. They had a 7-1 lead exiting the inning. Traverse city pushed it even further with a Jacob Kucharczyk RBI triple, followed by him stealing home for a 9-1 lead exiting the 6th inning.
A few more scoreless innings would be all the Pit Spitters need to take game 2.
The Battle Jacks play the Pit Spitters again on Friday, in another doubleheader that begins at 4:05 P.M. ET.
