BATTLE CREEK, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks snapped their five-game losing streak on Sunday afternoon with a dominant 12-4 victory over the Kenosha Kingfish at MCCU Field.
The Battle Jacks opened the scoring in the second inning when Owen Larrigan delivered an RBI double to give Battle Creek a 1-0 lead.
Kenosha answered in the third to tie the game, but the Battle Jacks quickly responded in the bottom half of the inning. RBI hits from Thomas Cooper and AJ Lucas helped Battle Creek regain the lead and take a 3-1 advantage.
The Battle Jacks continued to build momentum in the sixth inning, adding three more runs behind RBI contributions from Larrigan and Kyle Hartmann to extend the lead to 6-1.
Battle Creek added two insurance runs in the seventh as Brendan Thompson and Thomas Cooper crossed the plate, pushing the lead to 8-1.
The Kingfish trimmed the deficit in the eighth, but the Battle Jacks put the game out of reach with a four-run response, carrying a 12-2 lead into the ninth inning.
Kenosha scored twice in the final frame, but the comeback attempt fell short as Battle Creek secured a convincing 12-4 victory.
