BATTLE CREEK, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks opened their three-game homestand with a 12-6 loss to the Royal Oak Luperchans, notching the team’s sixth straight loss.

The Leprechauns and Battle Jacks continued the hot bats from Sunday from the very beginning of the contest, as both teams scored in the first inning as they headed into the second tied at one.

Royal Oak later took a two-run lead as a two-RBI home run from Jack Dauer gave them a 3-1 lead.

The Leprechauns kept the bats rolling in the third as they added two more to their total, taking a 5-1 lead, off Connor Larkin’s home run to centerfield. 

The Battle struck back in the bottom of the fourth, scoring on Johnny Marquez’s RBI putout to cut the lead down to 5-2.

The fifth inning saw the Leprechauns add to their lead as they tacked on three runs to take a commanding 8-2 lead; however, the Battle Jacks scored in the bottom of the fifth to make it an 8-3 game, as Jake Stedman scored off Thomas Cooper’s RBI single.

The Leprechauns extended their lead in the sixth, scoring three runs to take a 11-3 lead.

The Battle Jacks showed some fight in the seventh inning, scoring three runs off RBI’s from Thomas Cooper and Dayne Wimberly to cut the lead down to 11-6. 

The Leprechauns added an insurance run in the ninth inning to take a 12-6 lead with the Battle Jacks heading into their final three outs.

The Battle Jacks are back in action on Tuesday and continue their homestand with a two game series against the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders.
