Battle Jacks’ Late Collapse Leads to Loss Against Rockers

BATTLE CREEK, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks held onto the lead for the majority of the game, but faltered late as the Green Bay Rockers propelled themselves in the ninth inning.

The Battle Jacks got the bats going early as they scored four runs in the first inning to take an early lead, off RBI’s from AJ Lucas, Thomas Cooper, and Dayne Wimberly. 

The top of the third saw the Rockers strike back for two runs to cut the lead in half, making it a 4-2 Battle Jacks lead.

Green Bay kept the offence rolling as they scored four runs in the fourth inning, taking their first lead of the game, 6-4.

The Battle Jacks stormed back in the fifth inning, scoring two runs, highlighted by Thomas Cooper’s second RBI of the game, along with Brendan Thompson’s RBI double.

Battle Creek regained the lead in the seventh, taking a 7-6 lead off a sacrifice fly from Dayne Wimberly. 

The Rockers, however, took the game by storm in the ninth inning, tying the game off a home run from Jeremy Delamota and RBI’s from Dom Bello and Daniel Harden.

The Battle Jacks are back in action on Friday, against the Green Bay Rockers with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 pm.
