The Bombers won in a dramatic extra-innings 7-6 victory over the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters Saturday night at C.O. Brown Stadium to finish off the season series. Battle Creek won the season 5-3 over Wisconsin Rapids.
The Rafters scored an early pair when Brandon Hohl hit a two-RBI double in the third, and would homer again in the sixth to put Rapids back in the game. Battle Creek surged in the fourth inning, bringing four runs across off Bryce Redeker and Rhett Goodmiller base hits, and a Brendan Norton groundout. The Rafters tied the game in the eighth with three more runs and sent it into extra innings, but in the bottom of the 10th, all-star Brett Wiley brought home Jordan Dean from second base on a sharp single into centerfield, winning the ballgame.
Troy Forton had another standout start, going seven innings and allowed just three runs. Alex Tukey gave up the tying runs in the eighth inning, but closer Kristian Calibuso got the win after throwing a scoreless tenth inning.
Manager Donnie Scott was ejected for an altercating during the game with both umpires and will serve a suspension that the league has not yet determined.
The Bombers now head to the three-day Northwoods League All-Star Break Sunday-Tuesday in Wisconsin Rapids, and will resume play Wednesday night at C.O. Brown Stadium against the Green Bay Bullfrogs.
