Battle Creek tied the Northwoods League record for runs in a game in a 24-10 win on Monday in Wausau over the Wisconsin Woodchucks.
The Bombers finished the Woodchucks shortly after the game started, scoring 14 runs in the first three innings against the Woodchucks, who went through five pitchers. Every player in the Bombers lineup recorded a hit, but the standout was Bryce Redeker, who lit up Wisconsin pitchers for six hits and nine RBI, including two homeruns.
Ben Ballantine set down the first eight hitters in the Woodchucks order before allowing a hit, and went four and two-third innings before Bryan McCabe entered in relief, after joining the team earlier that morning in Madison. Scott Simmons, usually a mid-reliever, picked up the save.
The Bombers play their final road game of 2011 Tuesday at Athletic Park in Wausau before returning to C.O. Brown Stadium for a five-game homstand prior to the NWL playoffs.
