Battle Creek, Mich. – It took a few games, but it seems as if the Bombers are starting to come together as a team.
The Bombers swept the two game series with the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters, winning this morning’s game 7-3.
“I think today was huge for us, especially with (the win) yesterday and to come back out today,” starting pitcher Kyle Slack (Toledo) said.
As kids filed into the stadium and packed the stands, the Bombers put on a great display of baseball.
“Well you know what that was?” Coach Trivett asked after the game. “That was just Bomber baseball right there.”
“I think what we are seeing now is that we have been getting some quality pitching, and I can’t say enough about Kyle,” coach added.
Slack went six strong innings, giving up two runs (one earned) and striking out seven.
“After the first couple innings I was able to clear my mind and find my fastball,” Slack quoted. “I just started spotting up so I got into a rhythm and everything started to click.”
The offense finally got going today as well, putting together 11 hits as a team and scoring seven runs.
“It makes coaching a lot easier when you do that, you can really press,” Coach Trivett said in regards to getting an early lead. “Once we get them down we’re not going to slow up, so we are going to play that brand of baseball, especially early.”
All in all, it was a great day for baseball over at C.O. Brown stadium with a packed crowd of kids who received autographs from the players after the game.
The Bombers look to continue their winning ways tomorrow as the Waterloo Bucks come to town. First pitch is at 7:05 PM for Diamond Dog Wednesday.
Game Notes:
Kyle Slack: 6 IP, 2 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

…Coach Trivett commented on the upcoming two game series with the Waterloo Bucks as a huge one for the Battle Creek Bombers. The Bucks set a Northwoods League record last year, posting a 56 win regular season. Coach Trivett believes this will be a good test for the Bombsquad to see where they really stand as a team…
