ROCKFORD, IL – The Battle Creek Battle Jacks (2-2) went on the road for the first time this season to take on the Rockford Rivets (2-2) in their season opener at Rivets Stadium.

The defense for BC got off to a rocky start as Griffin Almond (Eastern New Mexico University) was making his first start on the mound this season. Almond found himself with bases loaded in the bottom of the first inning and a hit-by-pitch to Brandon Bakes (Indiana University) to bring the first run across the board.

The Rivets would continue to pour it on with Logan Mock (University of Southern Indiana) having a two-RBI night driving in Nick Demarco (Notre Dame) in the first inning and Cade Zalewski (Eastern Illinois University) in the third.

Zach Longshore (University of Texas at San Antonio) had quite the night for the Rivets pitching in the sixth innings throwing 93 pitches, seven strikeouts, and only giving up four hits. Alex Day would continue the run of strikeouts with five of his own as the Battle Jacks struggled to garner any momentum offensively.

Zalewski had a big eighth inning for the Rivets driving in three runs and Mock drove him in to finish it off as the Rivets got the 10-0 win over Battle Creek

The Battle Jacks look to even the series and get back to .500 in game two of the road trip in Rockford.
