Madison, Wis. – Dan Swain (Siena) homered, while Nick Medeiros (Santa Clara) and Mason Marshall (BYU) tossed scoreless innings in the visiting team’s 7-0 game-two win at the Big League Dreams Showcase.
Swain recorded hits in each of his final two at bats of the game, including a solo shot. He finished the game with two hits, two runs, and an RBI.
On the mound, Battle Creek pitchers preserved the shutout with a pair of solid performances. Medeiros forced two groundouts to begin his outing, then, after allowing a single, struck out Dane Hutcheon (Alexandria) to finish a scoreless eighth. Marshall continued the trend in the ninth, using three grounders and allowing just one baserunner on a two-out walk.
Lin Li (Taiwan) also participated, hitting second for the visiting team and finishing his day 0-for-4 with a walk.
These four Bombers will rejoin their teammates tomorrow in Mequon for game two against the Lakeshore Chinooks. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 Central time at Kapco Park.
