WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI — The Battle Jacks can’t bite back after a game 1 loss, and fall 7-2 Friday against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters.

The Battle Jacks started the game with bases loaded but weren’t able to capitalize in the first inning. They’d redeem themselves in the 2nd, when Payton Bookwalter landed his first home run of the season to drive in Christian Lopez and take a 2-o lead. The Rafters would also get on the board in the 2nd inning, with Carter Bennett drawing a bases-loaded walk to cut the lead down to 2-1.

The 4th inning would be huge for Wisconsin Rapids, as a Dylan Frank grand-slam would put the Rafters up 5-2 and shift the momentum. The Rafters would kick up the action again in the 7th, with Harrison Engskov hitting a home run to drive in two runs. The Battle Jacks entered the 8th inning down 7-2.

The Jacks wouldn’t be able to score in the 9th, and a Christian Lopez double-play would leave the Jacks exiting winless in Wisconsin Rapids.

The Battle Jacks ended the game with 3 hits and 2 errors.

Battle Creek is back at home Saturday for a 7:05 P.M. ET first pitch against the Rockford Rivets.
