BATTLE CREEK, MI — The Battle Creek Battle Jacks continue their struggles on Wednesday as they were swept by the Fond Du Lac Dock Spiders 19-2, extending the losing streak to seven games.

Fond Du Lac came out swinging in the first inning, as they took an early 4-0 lead, continuing off the momentum built from Tuesday night’s comeback victory in the ninth.

The Dock Spiders kept the pressure on as they added three more runs in the second inning, taking a commanding 7-0 lead early in the game.

The fourth inning saw both teams score, as in the top half of the inning, Fond Du Lac scored one run to take an 8-0 lead, while the Battle Jacks responded by getting on the board, scoring two runs off RBI’s from Dayne Wimberly and AJ Lucas, making it an 8-2 deficit. 

The Battle Jacks threaten to score in the fifth inning, loading the bases with one out, but are unable to score as they trail 8-2 heading into the sixth inning.

The Dock Spiders kept on coming, scoring another run to burst out to a 9-2 lead in the sixth inning.

Fond Du Lac took over the game in the eighth inning, scoring eight runs to take a dominating 17-2 lead. The Dock Spiders continued cruising on offence as they scored two more runs in the ninth inning, taking a 19-2 lead.

The Battle Jacks added a run in the ninth inning, scoring off Dayne Wimberly’s RBI single to right field as they were trailing 19-3.

The Battle Jacks head to Royal Oak to face the Leprechauns as they look to head into the All-Star break on a good note.
